Compartmentalized insulin signaling

چکیده

Viral assembly was thought to occur only in the cell body, with subsequent transport of fully assembled virions to axon terminals for release. Indeed, a pseudorabies virus mutant for Us9 appeared to be defective only in the second step, as it still makes infectious viral particles in the cell body but is defective for viral shedding from axons. But Tomishima and Enquist find that in the Us9 mutant some of the viral capsids are transported into the axon, leaving the viral membrane proteins behind in the cell body. Us9 has motifs suggesting that it could interact with a neuron-specific adaptor, thus creating an axonal transport vesicle for viral membrane proteins. Segregating viral membrane proteins from viral capsids during axonal transport may Only cells with Us9 (top) get viral membrane proteins into axons.

Modulation of Some Insulin Signaling Genes Due to Prenatal Rice Consumption

Objective: A clinically observable metabolic disorder often takes its root from modulation of transcriptional factors which in turn are responsible for perturbed protein expressions and their sequelae. Perinatal perturbations due to chronic prenatal exposure to a certain type of rice could predispose parents exposed to such ‘insult’ and their subsequent offsprings to metabolic diseases. Materi...

Swimming training alleviated insulin resistance through Wnt3a/β-catenin signaling in type 2 diabetic rats

Objective(s): Increasing evidence suggests that regular physical exercise improves type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). However, the potential beneficial effects of swimming on insulin resistance and lipid disorder in T2DM, and its underlying mechanisms remain unclear. Materials and Methods: Rats were fed with high fat diet and given a low dosage of Streptozotocin (STZ) to induce T2DM model, and su...

PI3K/Akt signaling requires spatial compartmentalization in plasma membrane microdomains.

Spatial compartmentalization of signaling pathway components generally defines the specificity and enhances the efficiency of signal transduction. The phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase (PI3K)/Akt pathway is known to be compartmentalized within plasma membrane microdomains; however, the underlying mechanisms and functional impact of this compartmentalization are not well understood. Here, we show th...

Anti-diabetic effect of loganin by inhibiting FOXO1 nuclear translocation via PI3K/Akt signaling pathway in INS-1 cell

Objective(s): JiangTangXiaoKe (JTXK) granule, a Chinese traditional herbal formula, has been clinically used and demonstrated to be beneficial in controlling high glucose and to relieve the symptoms of  Type 2 diabetes mellitus patients for decades. In this study, we explored how loganin, one of the components in JTXK granule, mediated the anti-diabetic effect.Materials and Methods: We generate...

Compartmentalized regulations of ion channels in the heart.

The rate and force of contraction of the heart are precisely controlled by compartmentalized regulation of cardiac ion channels which determine electrical activities. It is known that modulation of cardiac ion channels, which is caused by drug administration, sympathetic nervous system stimulation and gender difference, can increase risks of lethal arrhythmias in carriers of inherited disease m...

Compartmentalized Cyclic Adenosine 3′,5′-Monophosphate at the Plasma Membrane Clusters PDE3A and Cystic Fibrosis Transmembrane Conductance Regulator into Microdomains

Formation of multiple-protein macromolecular complexes at specialized subcellular microdomains increases the specificity and efficiency of signaling in cells. In this study, we demonstrate that phosphodiesterase type 3A (PDE3A) physically and functionally interacts with cystic fibrosis transmembrane conductance regulator (CFTR) channel. PDE3A inhibition generates compartmentalized cyclic adenos...
